Overview

Mondelez International treats staff to an interior for the senses

Mondelez is one of the world’s largest snack companies, and the name behind Cadbury, The Natural Confectionery Company, Oreo, and belVita. Fittingly, Mondelez International staff were given a treat when they moved into their new South Melbourne office – a space that would maximise assets and unite the team in one central location.

Architect BECA’s initial design for Mondelez introduced new ways of working with a greater emphasis on technology, collaboration and flexibility. As a design and construct (D&C) project for Schiavello Construction, the team liaised closely with all stakeholders to make preliminary concepts a reality.

Flexible workspace

Providing a variety of spaces through Schiavello

Glazed meeting rooms, brand-themed spaces, partitions, concrete flooring, and joinery – alongside a new kitchen and breakout areas – were all developed and constructed with staff input ensuring optimal functionality.

Schiavello workstations and furniture were strategically introduced to support the flexible workspace while individual work points were balanced with areas for retreat. Centric Workstations were adopted for their strength and malleability, while Krossi Workstations provide a hot-desk alternative for moving employees. Modified Kayt Hutchs and Kayt Quiets also offer a quiet place for collaboration amongst the open environment.

Colour Choice

A purple Kayt Quiet – wouldn’t it be nice?

Colourful furniture was used to enhance the playfulness of the design and branding. Staff can relax in bright Blom Chairs and coffee tables, while the purple of a Kayt Quiet reflects Cadbury’s world-famous graphics.

“Communication was critical to the project’s success. Schiavello guided us through intensive construction processes which provided a high level of assurance, transparency, clarity and ultimately high-quality outcomes,” says Darren van Roon, Office Services at Mondelez International.
