Purpose Built Healing: Royal Children's Hospital
A 'family-focused healing environment' with a purposeful driven execution. Schiavello, alongside Buro North developed the wayfinding solution to support visitor navigation.

Melbourne’s Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) is a purpose built hospital for children, designed to be more comfortable for them, their families, carers and staff. The RCH delivers a patient and family-focused healing environment based on the latest evidence and research-based design principles.

Wayfinding system
Schiavello was engaged at various stages of the project to provide a wayfinding system. Schiavello Signage developed the Blade system after working closely with signage design firm Buro North and the RCH to understand the signage needs. This saw the Blade wayfinding solution selected to provide a total of 3,171 signs, helping families and visitors easily find their way through the 165,000sqm site.

Custom furniture solutions throughout the hospital
Offering an integrated approach to RCH’s project needs, Schiavello manufactured and provided custom seating designed for project architects Bates Smart, and contracted by Lend Lease.
